From supplier file to published product page
The main steps to go from a raw catalog to product pages online, with a link to the details of each one.
Here is the usual path of a product in Upsellr, from receiving the supplier file to the page going live. Each step has its own detailed article.
The steps
- Import your products. Attach a spreadsheet or a PDF catalog to your message, or drop it from Sources. Marcus proposes the mapping between your columns and the master data, you check it, then you click Start import. See import a spreadsheet.
- Enrich the master data. Lily fills in what is missing: EAN, brand, technical specifications, images, documents. Marcus presents the workflow and its estimated cost, and you click Run. See master data enrichment.
- Set up a channel. A channel describes a destination: your store, a PIM or a simple file. In it you set the categories, the characteristics, the languages, the page structure and the tone. See create a channel.
- Generate the product pages. Max writes the channel’s content from the master data. See generating product pages.
- Review and validate. Generated pages move to the “To validate” status. You review them in the product panel, then validate them one by one or in bulk. See review and validate.
- Export or publish. You get a file, or you publish directly to your connected store. See export products and publish to the store.
Going faster
At the end of an import, Marcus suggests what comes next: Enrich them by collecting data, Enrich then generate straight away or Nothing for now, among others. You can also ask for everything in one sentence, for example “collect the data for the new products, then generate their pages for my store”.
Good to know
- An import never overwrites a value that was validated by hand or generated.
- Generation requires a channel. If you do not name one, Marcus asks you which one.
- A full web enrichment costs at most 14 credits per product, and a complete product page about ten credits per channel and per language. Each additional language costs two thirds of the first.
- Test on a few products first, review them, adjust the channel’s template, then run the rest of the catalog.
