Harmonized units and values
Every value,
in the channel’s format.
01The starting point
The right value,
not in the right form.
The master data values are correct. But each channel has its own units, formats and lists: a color outside the list, a weight in grams instead of kilos, and the listing is refused or badly filtered.
- Units that don’t fitGrams here, kilos there, inches elsewhere: the channel expects its own.
- Values outside the list“Teal” doesn’t exist on Amazon: the listing is refused.
- Different formatsComma or point, “Yes” or “true”: each channel has its writing rules.
02How it works
You ask. The agents take care of it.
- 01Correct master dataYour products’ values, collected upstream, once.
- 02The channel’s rulesIts units, formats and value lists, field by field.
- 03Harmonized during generationEach value is converted, reformatted or matched to the channel’s list as the page is written.
- 04Accepted listingsValues the channel understands, filters and accepts.

03The result in Upsellr
Correct values,
in the channel’s language.
Each value takes the channel’s unit, format and value list.
The master data itself stays as it is.
- ConvertedTo the channel’s unit
- FormattedTo its writing rules
- In the listAn allowed value

04What makes the difference
One value, as many forms as channels.
The same value, per channel.
The master data weight is written 1.7 kg for Amazon UK and 3.7 lb for a US channel: each channel gets its own unit.
Values in the list.
“Teal”, “petrol blue”, “turquoise”: each shade is matched to the value the channel’s list allows.
The channel’s writing rules.
Decimal separator, number of decimals, yes or no: each field follows its channel’s writing rules.
05Results to document
What you’ll be able to measure.
- Number of listings refused over a value
- Share of values within the channel’s lists
- Time spent correcting formats
Your questions.
Practical answers.
What you need to know before your first request.
Is my master data converted?
No. It stays as it is: units and formats apply in each channel, at generation.
Which units are converted?
Weight, dimensions, volume, power and other measurements, to the unit of the channel’s field.
What happens to a value outside the list?
It’s matched to the corresponding allowed value, such as “teal” to “Turquoise”.
Can each channel have its own formats?
Yes: units, decimal separator, precision and value lists are specific to each channel.
Can harmonized values still be edited?
Yes, in each channel’s page.
