Games and toys

The one who buys
is hardly ever the one who plays.

For what age, how many players, how long, batteries included or not: in store, the sales assistant answers for a child they can’t see. Upsellr writes product pages that set out how the game is played before anything else, with the manufacturer’s data, across your whole catalog.

Monopoly, the classic board game, 2 to 6 players, ages 8+

The game where you buy streets, build houses and hotels and collect rent: the classic version, from the Go square to the most expensive street on the board.

What happens around the table

  • For the whole family: children and adults play at the same table
  • The classic board: the streets and rules everyone knows

01The aisle’s challenges

What makes buyers hesitate,
and what ends up at the back of a cupboard.

Toys are sold to someone who won’t play with them, often in the few weeks before Christmas. Six situations your customers run into every day, and what Upsellr does about them.

  1. The whole aisle01

    Age is a safety value

The stated age depends on small parts and the EN 71 standard as much as on the fun of playing: it isn’t rounded and it isn’t guessed. The warning is printed on the box, rarely in the file.

  2. Board games02

How it’s played before what it’s made of

Number of players, game length and age decide the purchase long before the quality of the cardboard. If the page doesn’t give them from the title onwards, the customer moves on to the next game.

  3. Puzzles and construction03

    1000p, 1,000 pcs or 1000 pieces

Every supplier counts its pieces its own way. Your piece count filters stop finding anything and two identical puzzles look different.

  4. Models and remote control04

    Batteries included or not?

A toy that won’t switch on on Christmas morning goes back to the store. Battery type, quantity and whether they’re in the box are rarely in the supplier file.

  5. Outdoor play05

    A trampoline isn’t described like a puzzle

Every family has the data that drives the purchase: maximum user weight and outdoor use for a trampoline, piece size for a puzzle, scale for a figurine.

  6. The sector’s marketplaces06

Amazon and the rest: their rules, not yours

Every marketplace has its own categories, mandatory attributes and age warnings. An incomplete listing doesn’t go live, and the season won’t wait.

02The Games and toys library

Everything a toy product page needs,
ready to go.

Upsellr gives you a library built for games and toys: the aisle’s product families, from board games to remote control, each family’s attributes with their units and value lists, age and standards included, and the fields that make up a product page in the sector. Your Toys channel starts with it, with nothing to model.

  • 10product families
  • 29play attributes
  • 22ready-made value lists
  • 4page fields, each with its instructions

Your channel receives the sector library: its families, their characteristics and their value lists.

The sector’s page template arrives with its sections, each with its own expert instructions.

Every generated page follows this template, with your product’s data.

03The aisle’s tone

Counted items
instead of promises.

Lively but factual: the reader is buying a moment for someone else and wants to know that moment will actually happen.

An awesome, super fun game for the whole family! Hours of laughter guaranteed, for young and old.

2 to 5 players, ages 8+, 30-minute games. You investigate together and nobody is knocked out. In the box: 1 board, 110 cards and 6 wooden pawns.

Do

  • How it’s played, early on: age, players, length, pieces
  • Box contents as counted items
  • Age stated as given, and the reason when it’s known
  • What else it takes: batteries, a table, space

Avoid

  • Forced enthusiasm and exclamation marks
  • Educational promises missing from the sources
  • “For all ages”

Your questions.
Straight answers.

What you need to know before you start.

Does Upsellr pick up the safety warnings from the box?

Yes. The enrichment agent reads the age and warnings in the photos of the box, in the manuals and on the manufacturer’s side, and keeps the source of every value. An age missing from the sources is never guessed.

My new products all arrive in September: how do I keep up?

Drop the manufacturer’s file, references or EANs: columns are recognized, the enrichment agent completes the master data and the generation agent writes each channel’s pages. You approve before anything is published.

I also sell on Amazon or other marketplaces: how does that work?

Each marketplace listing is written to the channel’s rules: category, mandatory fields, value lists. Connectors are on their way; in the meantime, the listing exports in the marketplace’s template.

What happens when a value is missing, such as game length?

Nothing is made up: the enrichment agent searches at the publisher, in the rulebook and in the photos of the box. If the value still can’t be found, the field stays empty and the page flags it as to be completed.

My store already has its categories: what happens to the sector library?

It’s a starting point while your store can’t be read yet. As soon as your store or your PIM is connected, your own categories apply, and you can add your own attributes.
