Sports and outdoor
Beginner or experienced,
the page has to know.
What terrain, what level, what weather: in store, a sales assistant who does the sport asks two questions and brings out the right model. Upsellr writes product pages that answer just as well, with the manufacturer’s figures, across your whole catalog.

Trail running shoes, 6 mm drop, 280 g, 5 mm lugs
For intermediate runners on trails, from short runs to 30 km: moderate cushioning and a lugged sole for muddy ground.
What they change out on the trail
- 5 mm lugs: grip in mud and over roots
- Toe guard: toes protected on rocky ground

- “What’s the drop, and how much do they weigh?”

01The aisle’s challenges
The right product at the wrong level
comes back to the store.
In sport, the same product means something different depending on the discipline and the athlete’s level. Six situations your customers run into every day, and what Upsellr does about them.
Cycling, skiing, running01
For which discipline, at what level?
A beginner’s bike and a racing bike aren’t described with the same figures. If the page states neither the discipline nor the level, the customer picks the wrong model and sends it back.

A protein powder isn’t described like a tent
Every family has the figures that drive the purchase: number of sleeping places, weight and comfort temperature for a tent, protein content, flavor and number of servings for a supplement.

The figures runners compare
Drop, cushioning, weight in a reference size: runners compare these figures from one model to the next. They’re on the manufacturer’s website, rarely in the supplier file.

Comfort temperature, not a random number
A sleeping bag has its comfort and limit temperatures, measured to a standard. They’re in the manufacturer’s PDF data sheet, and customers look for them before setting off.

The sector’s marketplaces06
Amazon and the rest: their rules, not yours
Every marketplace has its own sports categories, mandatory attributes and value lists. A shoe without a size or a bike without a wheel size doesn’t go live.

02The Sports library
Everything a sports product page needs,
ready to go.
Upsellr gives you a library built for sports and outdoor: the aisle’s product families, from running to sports nutrition, each family’s technical attributes with their units and value lists, and the fields that make up a product page in the sector. Your Sports channel starts with it, with nothing to model.
- 10product families
- 43technical attributes
- 26ready-made value lists
- 4page fields, each with its instructions
Your channel receives the sector library: its families, their characteristics and their value lists.
The sector’s page template arrives with its sections, each with its own expert instructions.
Every generated page follows this template, with your product’s data.
03The aisle’s tone
From athlete
to athlete.
Technical and direct: the reader wants to know whether the product suits their level, on their terrain, in their weather.
Push your limits with these revolutionary shoes! Designed for champions, they’ll take you further than ever before.
Trail running shoes for intermediate runners: 280 g in size 42, 6 mm drop. 5 mm lugs for mud and roots, toe guard for rocky ground. For runs of 10 to 30 km on trails.
Do
- “8 mm drop” rather than “designed to push your limits”
- The discipline and skill level targeted
- Real terrain, distance and weather
- Manufacturer data written as such: “stated waterproofing”
Avoid
- Superlatives and exclamation marks
- Push-your-limits rhetoric
- Any value missing from the sources
04In the sector
From club to store,
four ways to sell sport.
Multi-brand wholesalers and distributorsThousands of references from dozens of brands, from balls to tents, in Excel, CSV or PDF catalogs.
Specialist stores and online shopsThe season’s new products online before the first outings.
Sports equipment brandsThe same technical figures at every reseller and in every language.
Sports retail chains and store networksThe same product standards on the website, in store and on marketplaces.
Your questions.
Straight answers.
What you need to know before you start.
Can Upsellr state a product’s skill level?
Yes, when it’s in the product’s data or at the manufacturer. Discipline and skill level are attributes of the Sports library, with their value lists. If the information is missing, it isn’t made up.
Are standards and comfort temperatures picked up?
Yes. The enrichment agent extracts them from PDF data sheets and the manufacturer’s website, with their source, and the master data keeps the product’s documents. The page quotes values as the manufacturer states them.
Does sports nutrition have its place in the library?
Yes. The Sports nutrition family has its own attributes: supplement type, protein content, flavor, number of servings, compatible diet. They’re only required for products in that family.
I also sell on Amazon or other marketplaces: how does that work?
Each marketplace listing is written to the channel’s rules: category, mandatory attributes, value lists. Connectors are on their way; in the meantime, the listing exports in the marketplace’s template.
My store already has its categories: what happens to the sector library?
It’s a starting point while your store can’t be read yet. As soon as your store or your PIM is connected, your own categories apply, and you can add your own attributes.
