Pet supplies

The one who buys
isn’t the one who eats.

For what age, what size, what digestive sensitivity: in a pet shop, the assistant asks three questions before recommending anything. Upsellr writes product pages that answer them, with the manufacturer’s data, across your whole catalog.

01The aisle’s challenges

Get the page wrong,
and the animal pays for it.

Pet supplies is the only aisle where the one who uses the product never reads the page. Six situations your customers run into every day, and what Upsellr does about them.

  1. Dog and cat food01

    For what age, what size?

Kibble for a puppy, an adult or a senior dog isn’t the same food. If the species, size and age it’s meant for aren’t on the page, the owner picks at random.

    From the supplier

    DOG KIBBLE CHICKEN 12KG

    On your page

Medium breed adult dog, 10 to 25 kg, medium kibble with chicken, 12 kg bag

    Generate content
  2. Food and treats02

    The composition, line by line

Composition, analytical constituents, additives: owners compare them, their vet asks for them. They’re printed on the bag, rarely in the supplier file.

    From the supplier

    No composition

    On your page

Composition and analytical constituents taken from the photo of the bag, with their source

    Photo analysis
  3. Walking and travel03

Size M, but on which dog?

A harness that’s an M at one brand is an S at another. Without the chest girth, the size means nothing and the harness comes back.

    From the supplier

    Harness S.M

    On your page

Size M: chest girth 55 to 70 cm, found in the manufacturer’s size guide

    Website search
  4. The whole aisle04

    Puppy, junior or growth

Every supplier names the animal’s age its own way. Your filters stop finding anything and two foods for the same puppy seem to target different ages.

    From the supplier

    PuppyJuniorGrowth 2-12 months

    On your page

Life stage: Puppy / kitten, the same value on every page of the channel

    Harmonized units and values
  5. Treats, hygiene and care05

What you don’t promise for an animal

Anti-stress, good for the joints, ideal for every dog: a health promise without a source exposes the seller, and the animal if it’s wrong.

    From the supplier

    Miracle dental treat

    On your page

Chew treat for dental hygiene, dogs from 10 to 25 kg. No health claim beyond the sources

    Tone of voice
  6. The sector’s marketplaces06

Amazon and the rest: their rules, not yours

Every marketplace has its own pet categories, mandatory fields and value lists. An incomplete listing doesn’t go live.

02The Pet supplies library

Everything a pet product page needs,
starting with the animal.

Upsellr gives you a library built for pet supplies: the aisle’s product families, each family’s attributes with their units and value lists, from species to type of litter, and the fields that make up a product page in the sector. Your Pet supplies channel starts with it, with nothing to model.

  • 10product families
  • 34product attributes
  • 26ready-made value lists
  • 4page fields, each with its instructions

Your channel receives the sector library: its families, their characteristics and their value lists.

The sector’s page template arrives with its sections, each with its own expert instructions.

Every generated page follows this template, with your product’s data.

03The aisle’s tone

Compositions and sizes,
not sweet nothings.

Factual and caring, without gushing: the owner is deciding for an animal and wants to be sure to get it right.

Treat your four-legged friend to this delicious kibble! They’re sure to love it.

Chicken as the first ingredient, rice instead of wheat. Medium kibble, sized for dogs from 10 to 25 kg. A 12 kg bag lasts about two months for a 15 kg dog with a normal activity level.

Do

  • The species, size and age targeted, stated explicitly
  • Compositions and sizes instead of affectionate adjectives
  • What happens if you stray from the size or age
  • Manufacturer data presented as such: “recommended ration stated at 300 g per day”

Avoid

  • Superlatives, anthropomorphism and exclamation marks
  • Any health claim
  • Any composition missing from the sources

Your questions.
Straight answers.

What you need to know before you start.

Does Upsellr pick up the composition and analytical constituents?

Yes, when they’re in your sources: supplier file, manufacturer’s website, PDF sheet or photo of the bag. The enrichment agent keeps the source of every value, and a missing composition is never made up.

Can the pages promise a health benefit for the animal?

No. The aisle’s tone rules out any health claim, and a veterinary recommendation is only written if the product’s data carries it. Nothing is published without your approval.

How are sizes for harnesses, coats or beds handled?

The page gives the size with its measurement, chest girth or dimensions, when it’s in the sources, often the manufacturer’s size guide. Without a measurement, the size stays as the supplier wrote it.

I also sell on Amazon or other marketplaces: how does that work?

Each marketplace listing is written to the channel’s rules: category, mandatory attributes, value lists. Connectors are on their way; in the meantime, the listing exports in the marketplace’s template.

My store already has its categories: what happens to the sector library?

It’s a starting point while your store can’t be read yet. As soon as your store or your PIM is connected, your own categories apply, and you can add your own attributes.
