Match your file's columns to your fields

Link each column to a field, choose the identifier, create missing fields and reuse a saved mapping.

The mapping tells Upsellr which field to put each column of your file into. At the Field matching step of the import, the Field matching card sums up the matched columns and those still pending. Review opens the details, under the Mapping title.

Column groups

Marcus reads your columns and proposes a match for each one. They are sorted into three groups:

  • Matched automatically: nothing to do. The columns that identify the product carry the identification label.
  • To check: Marcus hesitates on these columns. Confirm his proposal or choose the right field yourself.
  • Unmapped: no match for now.

Mapping

Nothing is imported until you validate.

The mapping details: each column of the file, the sample value it contains and the field it fills.

On each column, you can change the field, Ignore this column or Undo the mapping.

The identifier: EAN, SKU or MPN

Match at least one EAN, SKU or MPN column. This is what lets Upsellr recognize a product already in your catalog. Without an identifier, each row creates a new product instead of updating yours.

Create missing fields

If a column has no equivalent in your master data, click Create a field…, or Create all missing fields for all the columns concerned. The fields are only added when you validate the mapping: nothing is written before that.

Save a mapping

For a file you receive regularly, name the mapping in Save this mapping (for example, the supplier’s name). On the next file, Reuse a saved mapping applies it and shows how many of its columns exist in the new file. Leave the name empty if the file is a one-off: the mapping stays attached to that file alone.

Destination: master data or channel

If you have at least one distribution channel, each column offers a Destination: Master data or Distribution channels. For a channel, choose which of that channel’s characteristics to fill.

Good to know

  • At least one matched column is needed to continue.
  • Identifiers, brand, price and stock always stay in the master data: they cannot be mapped to a channel.
  • A file’s mapping can be changed later from its page in Sources, with Edit mapping.
