Import a PDF catalog
Extract the products from a PDF catalog, check what was read, then add them to your catalog.
Upsellr reads a PDF catalog page by page to extract its products: name, brand, references and attributes. You check the result before a single product is created.
Launch the extraction
- Click Add, then drop your PDF into Drop your files. The Extract from a PDF quick action on the home page opens the same drop area.
- Choose what you want to extract:
- Extract only the references and add the products to the catalogue: free.
- Extract the references and the products’ technical characteristics: the references are free, the characteristics come afterward through enrichment, in credits.
- Marcus reads the document and shows his progress page by page.
Check the extracted products
Open Review extracted products. The Extracted products screen lists each product with its identifier, its attributes and the pages where it was found. You can search for a product there.
Nothing is created until you have validated. Click Add the extracted products when the list suits you.
Finish the import
The rest is the same as for a spreadsheet: field mapping, then the filters, then Start import. The import report sums up the result.
From the Sources page, the file’s page also offers Extract products, then Continue import.
Good to know
- Maximum size: 100 MB per PDF.
- A “Pages … were only partly read: some products may be missing” warning flags pages that were hard to read. Check those pages in the extracted list.
- The extracted products are matched against your catalog when the import starts: that is when Upsellr shows which ones are new.
- Enrichment can later reread the catalog pages where each product was found.
