Manage master data fields
Organize fields into groups, set their type and unit, add new ones with Marcus, hide them or delete them.
Field management defines the structure of your master data: which fields exist, how they are organized and what type of value they accept. Open Settings, Master data, then Field management.
The screen has three columns: Scope (the whole catalog or a category), Fields and Configuration of the selected field.

Groups
Fields are organized into groups. You can:
- create a group with Add a group;
- rename a group;
- drag a group or a field to change the order;
- delete a group you created. Its fields are not deleted: they move to the Other group.
The field order is saved, and the columns of the Products grid follow it.
Add a field
Click Add field in a group. Marcus takes over in the discussion: he asks you for the field’s name, its purpose and whether it is required, then chooses the type and creates the field. He also checks that an equivalent field does not already exist.
Set up a field
Select a field, then click the Edit settings pencil. Changes are saved as you go, with no confirm button.
- Label and Code.
- Data type: Text, Number, Boolean, Date, Composite or Color.
- Multi-value, for a field that accepts several values.
- Unit: gram, kilogram, millimeter, centimeter, meter, milliliter, liter or percentage.
Hide a field
Turn off Active to hide a field: it disappears from the Products views and from exports to your channels, but it is never deleted. Turn it back on at any time.
The primary identifier
Primary identifier designates the key that recognizes the same product across several sources. Only one field can hold it, chosen among the identity fields (for example the EAN or the SKU). The primary identifier cannot be hidden.
Delete a field
On a field you added, Delete field removes it from the master data, after confirmation.
Good to know
- The fields provided by Upsellr cannot be deleted. Hide them if you have no use for them.
- In a category’s scope, the global fields appear grayed out under Inherited (global): they are edited in Global mode.
- A field’s requirement is set just below: see required fields and constraints by category.
